Drywall calculator example
Example: 20 ft × 12 ft room, 8 ft walls, 66 ft² of doors/windows, ceiling included, 10% waste and 4 × 8 ft sheets.
Add ceiling = 512 + 240 = 752 ft²
Subtract openings = 686 ft²
Add 10% waste = 754.6 ft²
754.6 ÷ 32 = 23.58 → 24 sheets
Drywall sheet sizes
Sheet dimensions vary by market and application. The calculator includes several common imperial and metric sizes and lets the sheet coverage determine the whole-sheet count.
Fasteners and joint compound
Fastener spacing and compound usage depend on framing, sheet orientation, edge conditions, number of finish coats and project specification. For that reason, MetricFigure does not hard-code a universal rate. You can enter your own planning rates if you want those estimates included.
