Dimensional Weight Calculator
Calculate dimensional (DIM) weight from package size and compare it with actual weight to estimate which value may be used for shipping charges.
Enter your package dimensions and calculate.
Dimensional weight example
Example: 20 × 15 × 10 inches using a divisor of 139.
3,000 in³ ÷ 139 = 21.58 lb dimensional weight
If the package actually weighs 12 lb, the dimensional weight is greater. For planning, rounding 21.58 lb up gives 22 lb, though the carrier's own billing rules control.
Why dimensional weight matters
Large lightweight packages can occupy significant vehicle and aircraft space even when they do not weigh much. Dimensional-weight pricing converts package volume into an equivalent weight so carriers can price bulky shipments more consistently.
